Etizolam is a synthetic fast acting benzodiazepine like chemical substance. This produces similar result as benzodiazepine. But Etizolam belongs to the class of thienodiazepine. It is a depressant and has anxiety suppressing, muscle relaxing, sedating properties. Usually the chemical substance is administered orally or sublingually because the bioavailability is more in these routes of drug administration. The onset of action of Etizolam is 15-20 minutes. It is not commonly prescribed and is not a controlled drug in many parts of the world. However, in India, Italy and Japan it is a prescribed drug. Quick question, did you know that it was first developed in Japan in the 1980s? Yes, Etizolam is that old. It has always been around.
But off lately, the etizolam for sale, distribution and use has seen a big boom. More people are buying it for their own use (obviously, not everybody who buys it are researchers or feeding it to something else). This current scenario may pose as a serious issue. And if not controlled now, heaven knows how many addicts we will have in this world.
In USA it is used as an analog of benzodiazepines and is a domestic research chemical. But many states in the US have banned the use or sale of Etizolam. Arizona, Indiana, Arkansas are some states that have banned its use. However, it is available on the internet and you can easily order online. How do you think that can be regulated or is it even controlled, at all? The answer is no.
Etizolam doesn’t have quality control in check. So who knows what people are consuming when they order it online? Especially the powdered substances are not to be trusted at all. Etizolam legality and the whole buying, selling and distribution process can be questioned.
